All models output Network IP streams with RTSP / ONVIF compliance and ship with an OEM SDK for direct integration into security VMS, defense C2, and industrial inspection platforms.

Resolution and Zoom Range

ZanVision's VIS-NIR zoom block cameras are organized around resolution tiers and zoom capabilities, each matched to distinct operational requirements:

  • 2MP Full HD (1920×1080): Available in 10×, 20×, 30×, and 55× optical zoom configurations. The 2MP tier balances resolution with manageable data bandwidth and low-light sensitivity, making it the workhorse for general surveillance applications. The 55× variant extends identification range beyond 3km for human-sized targets under daylight conditions.
  • 4MP Ultra HD (2688×1520): Standard in 30× optical zoom configuration. The higher pixel count supports finer digital zoom without pixelation, extending the effective identification range for applications where optical zoom reach is limited by physical size constraints. Suitable for long-range observation posts and border surveillance where target detail at distance is the primary metric.
  • 8MP 4K (3840×2160): Available in 36× optical zoom configuration. The 4K resolution combined with high optical zoom delivers exceptional detail at range — operators can digitally magnify regions of interest within the scene without losing evidentiary-quality image detail. This tier targets strategic surveillance applications: coastal monitoring, critical infrastructure protection, and long-range intelligence collection.

Global Shutter Series

For applications involving fast-moving targets or platforms in motion, ZanVision offers global shutter sensor variants. Unlike rolling shutter sensors that expose each pixel row sequentially — introducing geometric distortion (the "jello effect") when either the camera or target is in motion — global shutter sensors expose all pixels simultaneously. This eliminates image skew and wobble, ensuring geometrically accurate capture of fast-moving targets.

Global shutter VIS-NIR cameras are particularly suited for:

  • Airborne ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) payloads where the platform is in constant motion
  • Ballistic tracking and range instrumentation
  • High-speed industrial inspection where object velocity would cause rolling shutter artifacts
  • Drone detection and tracking systems requiring accurate target geometry for classification

Image Processing Capabilities

All VIS-NIR zoom block cameras incorporate on-board image processing pipelines that operate in real time on the raw sensor data:

  • Wide Dynamic Range (WDR): Compensates for scenes with simultaneous bright and dark regions — such as a target in shadow against a bright sky or entrance monitoring where the doorway creates extreme contrast. WDR processing preserves detail in both highlight and shadow regions simultaneously.
  • Digital Noise Reduction (3D DNR): Temporal noise reduction that compares consecutive frames to distinguish random sensor noise from real scene detail. Reduces bandwidth consumption in low-light scenarios where noise would otherwise dominate the encoded bitstream.
  • Defog / Haze Penetration: Enhances contrast in atmospheric conditions that reduce visibility — fog, haze, smoke, and dust. The algorithm estimates the atmospheric transmission map from the image and compensates for scattering, restoring scene contrast without artificial sharpening artifacts.
  • Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS): Compensates for low-amplitude vibration common in vehicle-mounted and mast-mounted installations. EIS analyzes frame-to-frame motion vectors and applies a compensating transform before encoding, reducing motion blur without the cost and weight of mechanical stabilization.

Network and Digital Interfaces

All VIS-NIR zoom block cameras output H.264/H.265 compressed video over standard IP networks with RTSP streaming and ONVIF Profile S / G / T compliance. Network interfaces support 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet with PoE (802.3af/at) for single-cable installation. For integration scenarios requiring uncompressed video, HDMI and 3G-SDI outputs are available on select models.

Serial control via RS-485 (Pelco-D/P) and RS-232 (VISCA) protocols enables direct integration with existing PTZ controllers and gimbal systems. The OEM SDK exposes sensor configuration parameters including exposure time, gain, white balance, IR cut filter control, and zoom/focus presets — allowing deep integration into custom VMS and C2 platforms.
